International Observer to the trial of former president of Peru Alberto Fujimori for human rights violations for the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA) (2007-2009).

Observed trial sessions; gave interviews to local and international press; and prepared reports on evolution of trial for WOLA website (see applied publications for URL).

Coordinator, Working Group on Transitional and Transnational Justice, Center for Global Studies, Fall 2006-present.

Working group’s objective is to develop research collaborations on transitional and transnational justice issues among faculty and graduate students from a variety of disciplines. Current funding from CGS and ICAR Point of View program to organize brown bag events, conferences, film series, and facilitate graduate student participation in scholarly conferences.

Expert witness. Inter-American Commission for Human Rights (IACHR) (2007).

Prepared an amicus curiae at the request of the IAHCR to the Inter-American Court on Human Rights (IACHR) on the Rodrigo Franco Command, a paramilitary organization that operated in Peru in the late 1980s. The Court ruled the Peruvian state responsible for the 1989 murder by the RFC of two activists and ordered it to pursue criminal prosecution of those responsible (which began in 2008) and pay reparations.
